A temporary transformer has been brought into operation at Songkjølen, part of Odal Wind Farm, following a technical issue with the main transformer in autumn 2025. Head Energy DanGrid supported the project as technical advisor throughout the process, from initial fault investigation through to commissioning of the temporary installation.

The issue required 23 turbines to be temporarily taken out of service. To restore generation as quickly as possible, a replacement transformer was mobilised through REN Transformatorberedskap.

Once in place, the temporary transformer required mechanical and electrical modifications, testing and connection to the existing system before it could be energized. The unit was successfully energized on 20 January, less than three months after the original fault occurred. It will remain in service until the permanent transformer has been repaired and reinstalled.

Head Energy DanGrid’s involvement covered technical assessment of the original transformer, engineering support related to the necessary adaptations, and assistance during energization and commissioning. Working closely with the client and other contractors, the wind farm was returned to normal operation within a relatively short period.
