Preventive technology against sea lice
Head Energy Multicontrol supplied the electronics, control and control system for BlueLice’s preventive solution to salmon lice issues.
Salmon lice are a persistent challenge in the aquaculture industry. Before attaching to fish, however, the lice exist as free-swimming larvae in the sea. BlueLice targets this stage. Using focused light, the larvae are attracted and captured before they reach the salmon.
Our delivery: Electronics, control and control system
Through Hugg, which specialises in mechanical product development and design, Head Energy Multicontrol supplied the electronics, control and control system for BlueLice’s lice traps.
The delivery built on BlueLice’s earlier concept tests, with a focus on verifying the technology for and preparing for production.
Head Energy Multicontrol is also contributing to the next revision of the system.
Multidisciplinary expertise underwater
The aquaculture industry is continually seeking new solutions to the lice problem, and BlueLice’s technology offers a preventive and gentle approach. It captures salmon lice before they attach to the fish, without chemicals, medication or direct contact with the salmon.

Developing robust and safe underwater technology takes expertise and experience to ensure that electronics and different systems work together underwater. Head Energy Multicontrol contributed multidisciplinary expertise and a flexible development environment to the ongoing development of BlueLice’s lice traps.
