We have fireproofed Norway's largest fire station
The main fire and rescue station in Sandnes is Norway's largest. It is strategically located just off E39 and rv. 44 at Stangeland in Sandnes and brings together fire brigade, ambulance, immediate aid and emergency care in one place.
The building contains all departments of Rogaland Fire and Rescue IKS. That is, daytime personnel from administration, staff, emergency alert center, fire prevention department, emergency and environmental health protection and bestowal control.
In addition to personnel and offices, the building houses, among other things, a carriage hall, accommodation rooms for both fire brigade and emergency services, emergency alarm center, gymnasium, canteen, strength room, climbing room and reception. The special thing about the main fire station is the approximately 100-meter-long and 30-meter-wide carriage hall where vehicles drive in at one end and out at the other end. This makes it as easy as possible to move out of the station. All the vehicles of both the Fire and Rescue Service and the Ambulance Service have space inside the carriage hall.
The building was erected by Kruse Smith, and Head Energy BrannCon had responsibility for devising fire concept and escape plans. Sprinklers, fire alarm system and management system have been installed. A fire sectioning divider in the emergency room attends to horizontal escape requirements. Rooms with injury-sensitive contents are secured with inert extinguishing gas.
As fire consultants, it has been particularly exciting to participate in the fire protection of Norway's largest fire station. We thank Kruse Smith for the mission.
