After two summers as a summer student in Head Energy BrannCon, Mads Gimre is now ready to embark on a new role — this time as a permanent fire technical advisor.

Mads holds a bachelor's degree in fire safety from Høgskulen på Vestlandet (HVL). Already after the first year of his studies, he took the chance and contacted Head Energy BrannCon to inquire about opportunities for a summer job.

“Fortunately, I was allowed to work here for seven weeks, and to return the following summer. I was thrown straight into the tasks without much experience, but it was the perfect way to learn -- with room to try and fail,” Mads says.

From theory to practice

In particular, he highlights how the practical experience influenced the motivation and understanding of the subject:

“The periods as a summer student in Head Energy BrannCon gave me a completely different outlook on my education. It became much easier to motivate oneself to complete the study when I saw how theory turned into practice.

The practical experience, combined with an inclusive work environment, made the choice to start your career in Head Energy easy:

“From day one, I was welcomed by my colleagues, and I have received many useful tips and great support from good and experienced people. It made me happy so much that there was never any doubt when I was offered a permanent job. With skilled, friendly and curious colleagues — and an exciting growing company, it was an offer I gladly accepted,” says Mads.

As a fire technical advisor, he will continue to contribute with engineering, analysis and consulting. Now he looks forward to participating in the further development of Head Energy FireCon and to building valuable experience along the way.

“I will try to say yes to as much as possible — then I think the start of my career will be both educational and exciting,” says Mads.

General Manager of Head Energy BrannCon, Sindre Gilje, highlights the value of having Mads on the team:

“It is rewarding to bring in young, newly graduated employees who add new perspectives and fresh insights. It helps to challenge us, develop us further and strengthen our academic environment,” says Sindre.
