Represented Norway at the World Robotics Championships

Over the past year, six young technology enthusiasts from The Lore Miners have gone from winning the Scandinavian FIRST® LEGO® League final to representing Norway at international championships in Houston and Beijing. Head Energy has been proud to support them along the way.

FIRST LEGO League is an international science and technology competition for children and young people, giving participants the opportunity to explore technology, programming, innovation and problem-solving. Teams are challenged to design, build and program a LEGO robot, develop an innovation project and present their solutions to a panel of judges.

Teamwork, creativity and problem-solving are also central to the competition – skills The Lore Miners have had plenty of opportunity to develop throughout an eventful year.

Off to a flying start

The Lore Miners is a team of six students from Asker International School with a keen interest in technology and programming. A year ago, they decided to enter the regional FIRST LEGO League competition in Oslo, where they won the Robot Performance Award and finished second overall.

From there, they progressed to the Scandinavian final, where they came out on top among 544 participating teams. The victory earned them the opportunity to represent Norway at the FIRST LEGO League World Festival in Houston, Texas, in spring 2026.

Competing internationally required financial support for travel, accommodation and further development of the team's robot, among other expenses. When Head Energy was approached, we were pleased to have the opportunity to support the team on the next stage of their journey.

Meeting young technology enthusiasts from around the world

In Houston, The Lore Miners competed alongside 160 national champion teams from around the world. The event gave them the chance to meet other young people who share their passion for technology and innovation, exchange ideas and experience robotics on an entirely new level.

The event also brought together other FIRST competitions and featured an innovation expo with several major technology organisations, including NASA.

Another international championship in Beijing

Houston was not the end of the team's international journey. The Lore Miners were also invited to represent Norway at the FIRST LEGO League Championship in Beijing in August. With another international competition ahead, Head Energy once again came on board as a sponsor.

In Beijing, the team competed alongside 142 top teams from around the world and finished the championship by winning the Breakthrough Award. It was a fitting end to an eventful year that included strong performances in Oslo and at the Scandinavian final, appearances at two international championships and an award in Beijing.

An interest in technology starts early

At Head Energy, we work every day with people who combine expertise, technology and collaboration to find effective solutions. We therefore also want to help give children and young people the opportunity to explore technology and STEM subjects from an early age.
