Head Energy Introcon Expands into HSE Coordination to Support Safer Projects

With the appointment of Kim Skjoldal, the company gains an experienced HSE coordinator with solid expertise from both the contractor and client sides of the industry.
- It’s both exciting and inspiring to bring such an experienced professional as Kim onto the team. He adds valuable competence within HSE and strengthens us in an area that is absolutely central to the projects we deliver, says Stian Raunehaug, Managing Director of Head Energy Introcon.
Kim holds a craft certificate as a bricklayer and spent more than ten years in the construction industry before completing further education in HSE management at BI Norwegian Business School in Stavanger and Technical College. He has since worked as an HSE coordinator on projects for companies such as Veidekke, Implenia, and Sweco. In recent years, his main focus has been on coordination during the execution phase (KU) of construction and infrastructure projects — including work for Bane NOR, Bybanen Utbygging, and the Nøstet Project in Bergen.
As of September 1, Kim has transitioned from being hired through Sweco to becoming a permanent employee at Head Energy Introcon. He continues his work on the Nøstet Project — now serving as both design phase coordinator (KP) and execution phase coordinator (KU).
Contributing to Safer Projects and Better Solutions
As an HSE coordinator, Kim ensures that health, safety, and the working environment are properly managed throughout all project phases — from early planning to completion.
- In the design phase, my job is to influence advisors and designers to consider HSE when choosing solutions. I challenge them to reduce risk in their designs so that the residual risk is as low as possible once the work moves into production. Out on site, I follow up to make sure those risk factors are actually managed in practice, Kim explains.
He believes the discipline has gained greater importance in recent years:
- Regulations have become stricter, and there’s a stronger focus on HSE. This requires people with experience and understanding of both design and execution. That’s what I want to contribute at Head Energy Introcon — helping our clients achieve safer projects and smarter solutions.
Building a Safety Culture Through Collaboration
Kim emphasizes that a strong safety culture is built through collaboration and openness.
- It’s about addressing risks early, having leaders who set a good example, and maintaining a constructive dialogue with contractors. You need to be willing to speak up — both when things are done well and when something can be improved, he says.
