Fire protection of innovative warehouse with smart energy solutions

In 2018, Rema 1000 opened its new warehouse at Vagle. The building is 26000 square meters and every day delivers around 1000 pallets to Rema 1000's stores in Rogaland and Agder.

The building has an automated logistics system from Witron to ensure that goods are moved quickly and cost-effectively within the warehouse. In addition, a solar photovoltaic system of approximately 6500 m2 on the roof contributes to the fact that the energy use in the building is largely based on short-range renewable energy. The large and open building mass combined with the use of robots means that it is not possible to use traditional fire protection for warehouse buildings. Here we had to find fireproof solutions suitable for the automated warehouse of tomorrow.

It is exciting to work with a builder who wants to push boundaries on how distribunals can operate efficiently and environmentally friendly. Listening to the builder's wishes about how the building can work best, and finding fire engineering solutions that take care of this as much as possible, is a process that requires good communication. Head Energy BrannCon has developed fire concept for the building and followed it up during the construction phase.

All parties understood the problem of fireproofing a colossally large and innovative building. We will implement the solution Head Energy BrannCon came up with, to other builds in the future.
