Food hall on the waterfront of Oslo
In 2017, a cultural centre emerged in the old customs hall of the Port of Oslo — with a food hall, stage, exhibition space and gathering point all in one.
In 2016, Vippa won a competition to develop a new concept for the old customs booth at Vippetangen in Oslo. BrannCon was engaged to assist with fire technical advice for the change of use.
The fire engineering design included assessment of existing structures and needs for upgrade, escape simulations and analysis. The premises were to have several different uses. In the design, we adapted the analyses and calculations to the individual applications.
The organization in Vippa has been rewarding and inspiring to work with, and we were fortunate to be able to contribute as an advisor to the organization also during the operational phase.
Vippa is a dynamic place with a focus on food, culture and education. The premises are used for food service, conferences, concerts and exhibitions, and inspiration has been drawn from several places, including Markthalle Neun in Berlin. Vippa represents something new and unique in the capital, and it soon became one of the most popular destinations in Oslo.
Head Energy BrannCon found smart and fireproof solutions for a large venue that accommodates many people.
